Dear parents and others with influence over a young person,
Reading, writing, math...important. But even more important, raising a decent human being. One that isn’t fearful of someone that is different than them, one that doesn’t take their privilege (in any are of life) for granted or as a way to see themselves as superior over others, one that is empathetic, one that experiences life outside of their bubble, one that feels a sense of responsibility for their actions.
Do I think this is THE solution to systemic issues? Absolutely not. Am I saying that I’ve got it all figured out and my parenting will result in a model citizen? Nope. But just like reading, writing and math, raising a decent human takes effort, teaching and role modeling. It doesn’t just happen. As a parent, I sit with some pretty serious power and if I’m not using it in a way that could possibly make the difference in whether a black man dies for no reason, or a woman gets paid what she deserves, or a kid with an accent gets a fair shot...then I’m part of the problem.
You may be overwhelmed with what’s going on and you may not realize that you do have power for change. But please understand that the little person in your life is your actionable step.
ALL SPOTS FILLED. Our 3 week program started yesterday and in just a couple of hours I received feedback on the core progression series. Participants range in fitness level and stage of motherhood, but I know all of them are going to be stronger by the end of May! *make sure to visit activemomfitness.com for other virtual opportunities.
Being “cleared for exercise” should not be based on a time frame. It should not be one size fits all. It does not mean your body is ready to try or do everything. Thank you for your post @thinkbeyondpain ・・・
Pregnancy is a long period of hormonal, postural, muscular and so many functional changes. Childbirth is a major event of changes and stress through the system including pelvic floor, abdominal muscles, abdominal / pelvic nerves , hip joints ligaments and even organs
.
.
The Column on left depicts an average rehab program after an outpatient orthopedic procedure. It takes into consideration that different types of tissue heal at a different timeline. It takes into consideration that muscles need to work and not lose their muscle mass. It takes into consideration the importance of mechanics and training as you get back to function. It sets guidelines to REHABILITATE and PREPARE body to go back
.
.
And then we have the column on the right 😐. Despite all the muscle , nerve and other trauma , multiple days hospital stay and upcoming demands of childcare ; we give women next to NOTHING when it comes to Preparing body to return to function
Is it really surprising that majority of post partum women report lower back pain, neck pain, pelvic discomfort , decreased sexual drive and even depression?
.
.
Women deserve better. YOU deserve better.

ATTENTION: A MEANINGFUL MOTHER'S DAY GIFT is shared in this post, but first I'll say that this is one of my favorite pictures. Hayden was probably 3-4 weeks old and my mom was visiting. She won't be visiting again for a while due to some physical limitations. Which is why this year, I encourage you to give your mom or a special mom in your life the gift of exercise for Mother's Day. If you're looking for an impactful gift this year, consider purchasing an Active Mom Fitness gift card that can be used for virtual private sessions or live stream classes. You could also purchase a semi-private package and workout with your mom virtually ☺️. Both can be purchased via online Mindbody. Message me with any questions. I look forward to helping all moms move a little better.
