Meet Ashley, Founder

  • Advanced Pre/Postnatal Wellness Practitioner

  • Functional Movement Systems cert.

  • Functional Programming for Females cert.

  • Prenatal/Postpartum Exercise Design cert.

  • Trained to be a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and to teach K-12 Health and Physical Education

“During my own experience with pregnancy and postpartum, I realized that there were very few exercise resources for moms, especially when it came to strength and core training. With a background in exercise science, I founded the first strength-training studio for moms and moms-to-be in Philadelphia. Now with a proven training approach trademarked as Core, Function & Fitness, moms online or in the studio can be active, strong, and confident through all stages of motherhood. Exercise is our greatest tool!”-Ashley

Ashley’s Signature Approach: Core, Function & Fitness (SM)

After years of helping hundreds of moms stay active until their due date and safely return to exercise after having a baby, Ashley assessed her unique and effective approach and defined it by name. At the foundation of her method is establishing core strength AND function. Her approach to exercise works for both moms and moms-to-be because it’s designed to be personal and progressive. With functional strength training that emphasizes movement patterns instead of isolated muscles moms feel strong during their daily lives, without pain, and can master workouts.

  • CORE: A strong core is the foundation of training at Active Mom Fitness. From pelvic floor to shoulders, core training is emphasized in every prenatal and postpartum session. I take into account conditions such as low back pain, incontinence, pelvic floor dysfunction, diastasis recti, prolapse, and more.

  • FUNCTION: Being able to feel good while performing the movements required of you is important. Your exercise program should help you adapt to the changes in your body and the physical demands of being a mom.

  • FITNESS: Moms can still achieve their fitness goals, but considering new obstacles like childcare, energy, and time, your plan to achieve those goals needs to reflect those challenges.
